Kutu Gorilla Group

Kutu Gorilla group one of the newly habituated groups found in Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. It got its name from the dominant silverback and it is an exceptional group to explore on Uganda gorilla tours.

Each gorilla group in Uganda offers a unique experience to every Tourist on a Uganda gorilla safari. Currently, about 22 groups  available for gorilla trekking in Uganda. Gorilla trekking in Uganda only done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The two national parks  found in the Southwestern part of Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park alone  home to 21 habituated gorilla groups and only one group is in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. With the above number, Uganda becomes the Country with the highest. Number of habituated mountain gorillas in Africa and the whole World.

The Kutu group explored by researchers during Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi. The group headed by Kutu silverback and it has about 8 individuals consisting of black back, sub-adults, juveniles and infants. As a celebratory feature, the Kutu gorilla family got an addition to the family, a baby in October 2020.

Meanwhile, visitors interested in mountain gorilla habituation experience can now explore Kutu gorilla group of Bwindi Impenetrable forest. With the above habituated Kutu gorilla group, a gorilla tour to Uganda never leaves you out of choice. You can visit anyone of the gorilla groups in Uganda and discover something unique.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority had put aside 2 gorilla families for gorilla habituation experience such as  Bikingi and Bushawo. These groups accessed through Nkuringo and Rushaga at Rubugiri. Furthermore, reports from Bwindi Indicated that Bushawo fully habituated and opened for normal mountain gorilla trekking leaving Bikingi and Kutu gorilla family under habituation for the 4 hour mountain gorilla habituation experience.

Trekking these mountain gorillas starts very early in the morning with a briefing. Conducted by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Rangers who equip the visitors with guidelines on the dos and don’ts during the gorilla tracking experience. After the briefing, visitors are assigned a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guide who then takes them through the forest as they embark on the search for the mountain gorillas.

The Gorilla Trekking activity takes a duration of between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family you have been assigned to.  However, Sometimes the gorillas go deep into the forest which makes tracking them to possibly go on for hours. The trekking experience takes you through forests, valleys, thick bushes and hiking through highlands. All these activities add up to the overall memorable moments in the forest as the tourists have the opportunity to encounter some other exciting flora and fauna during their trekking experience.
