Oruzogo Gorilla Group
Oruzogo gorilla group found in Ruhija sector together with Bintukura and Kyaguriro. Which is the gorilla family dedicated purely for research. The Oruzogo gorilla family trekked from either Buhoma or Ruhija sectors. Meaning you can still book your accommodations in Buhoma or Ruhija area. Before the trek, one will have to drive for one to two hours from Buhoma to reach the starting point.
Oruzogo gorilla group was availed for trekking is 2015 and “Tibirikwata,” the dominant Silverback made sure his family was viable and a formidable force in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest ahead of the high season. When hundreds of human friends travel to southwestern Uganda to meet their closest cousins.
The Oruzogo gorilla family received its first visitors in 2011. It is the second habituated gorilla family in the great Bwindi forest and has about 22 gorilla members inclusive of 2 silverbacks. One of them is Tibirikwata a dominant silverback and leader of the family and the other is Kaganga. His name means “the giant one,” Bwoba and Busungu are other gorilla members in the family.
There has been progress in the family as its members were growing in number. For example, 2 females known as Musi and Nta Murungi in the family gave birth to beautiful gorillas. There is also an adult female known as Kakobe who interestingly gave birth to twin gorillas.
Watching the playful infant gorillas of Oruzogo family is a wholesome experience. Oruzogo gorilla family was once the largest family with many gorilla individuals in Bwindi impenetrable national park. Watching these playful infant gorillas of the Oruzogo family is a breathtaking experience.
Oruzogo gorilla group was once the largest family with many gorilla individuals in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Some of its members include; Otaka, Katooto, Kanywani, Bwoba, Karimi, Kiromba, Nyakiina, Busungu, Kashundwe and Buchura the youngest. Members of the Oruzogo gorilla group are bold and playful, therefore, most visitors have always fallen for them hence visiting them over and over again.
